Summary
Short Description:
The Met Office UK Deterministic (UKV) 2km model dataset is generated by a
high-resolution, regional numerical weather prediction system covering the UK,
Ireland, surrounding waters and the near continent. It is based on the Unified
Model framework, which is used for both weather and climate prediction at the
Met Office. The UKV model operates on a rotated pole grid, with grid-spacing
stretching from ~1.5 km over the UK to 0.036 ~4 km towards the edges, but the
forecast data are reprojected onto a uniform 2km Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area
grid for data sharing. The model provides detailed forecasts of atmospheric and
surface parameters. Forecasts are generated hourly with runs out to 12 hours
ahead, with extended runs to 54 hours at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00 UTC and
to 120 hours at 03:00 and 15:00 UTC.
